A new mumspacer joined up yesterday & I asked her to tell me a bit about herself. I was thinking about that, & as a mum, that is a very broad question. If I am asked that, my answer is usually along the lines of ‘I am a stay-at-home-mum of an 11 month old/ 8 month corrected, engaged to a fantastic guy, studying by correspondence to be a Counsellor, yada, yada, yada…’.
Yes, that sums me up. I am a mum. That is me, that defines me as a person right now. I can guess that many other mums feel like this.
BUT I AM A PERSON TOO! Even if I don’t feel like it a lot of the time these days.
So I am going to tell you a bit about the person I was (& still am really) before I was a mum.
I will pass this on to the other mum Bloggers I know, & feel free to steal this for your own Blog too.
YES, I AM A MUM, & I’M A PERSON TOO!
1. Name your 3 previous occupations before becoming a mum?
Bar Manager at a club, then a Hotel Manager for a couple of years, then got totally over working in the pub industry (drunk assholes abusing you all night long!), so I quit, took 3 months off, wanted a job without so much responsibility, so spent the 2 years before becoming a mum working in a Newsagent.
2. If you are in a relationship, how did you meet your man?
He used to come to the Hotel I managed! He busted some mad moves on the dancefloor! Haha!
3. Tell us about 3 things people who only know you as a ‘mum’ wouldn’t know about you.
I was a mad keen biker chick for about 10 years. I went through a few awesome race bikes, but gave it up when I busted my knee when I crashed my bike.
I used to be an ice hockey player & a boxer. I was pretty good too!
I am covered in tattoos, but you wouldn’t know it under my ‘mummy’ clothes these days.
4. List 3 hobbies you had before your time was completely consumed by being ‘mummy’.
Motorbikes, rockclimbing, busting moves on the hiphop floor (Haha!), scrapbooking.
5. Are there any things you have done in your life that you would not want your kids to know about?
I don’t want my kids to know I was a biker, I NEVER want them to ride bikes, I’d be terrified! (Now I know how my parents felt!)
I probably don’t want them to know that I tried quite a few drugs in my early teens.
I think that’s about it, I’d be pretty honest about everything else.
6. Besides being a mum of course, what would you say is your biggest achievement?
I have no idea really, I don’t feel like I’ve actually accomplished that much!
So it’s a work in progress! And I also have to go & feed the baby! Add any extra questions you think it needs in my comments, & I’ll update it later on.
Cheers all, have fun!
How about I finish it with;
Post a photo of YOU before you were a mum!
I can’t for the life of me seem to be able to load a photo at the moment so will update that later too!

Hi, thanks for the welcome! This entry could have been written by me! When I have to write ‘about me’ things these days I say things like: Happily married, mother to 10 month old, pregnant with second child… blah blah blah. Lol. It’s kind of like you lose your identity when you become a mum.
I love your quiz thing… I might do it too.
So, you asked me to tell you about myself, I’ve mentioned the basics! I love to write and read and always hoped to be a published author, but that has been put on the back burner presently. Mmm. I don’t really know what else to tell you right now……
