Any other mums who are renting will have experienced this routine;
Over the last couple of months I have wasted many hours of my time browsing for rental places on the net (the only hours I have to do this of course are late at night or when the baby is sleeping).
With 8 weeks until our lease is up, & knowing how hard it is to actually get a nice place to rent these days, I decided last weekend that it was time to start making appointments to look at a few places.
On Saturday I got up early & checked the net for any new places (Saturday is the day most new places are listed). I found about 7 places in various areas that suited what we’re after. So I tried to pounce on them straight away & called the Real Estate for each place, hoping to be able to see some places that day.
At all of the Real Estates the phone was answered by a bimbo secretary who didn’t know anything about the place in question themselves.
3 out of 7 told me there was nobody available who did know about the place & I could call back later.
3 out of 7 took my details & told me somebody would contact me about the place in question.
Nobody ever did.
Only 1 put me straight through to a person who could help. (This was the place that I really wanted to see!) She said she had not seen the place yet so she couldn’t tell me much about it or answer any of my questions, but that she was organizing an inspection for Tuesday or Wednesday & she would call me with the details.
On Monday I called about the 6 other places again.
1 out of 6 I got through to somebody who could help, but the place doesn’t have what we need.
3 out of 6 I am yet to hear back from.
2 out of 6 have already taken applications & deposits. (Somebody else managed to get through to an agent & arrange an inspection! What is their bloody secret?!!!!)
On Tuesday I got up before Kaia woke up so I could be showered & organized to go if the agent called about the possible inspection mentioned. I had organized to get the car from Marty, it was pissing with rain, & I was not looking forward to taking the kiddo out, but with the possibility of seeing a decent unit, he was bathed, fed, & packed to go.
She didn’t call.
Today we were up & ready to go, & sitting by the phone.
She didn’t call.
By the afternoon I was sick of waiting, so I called to see what the story was.
She said that she had shown somebody else the apartment & they had already put in an application & deposit! Faaaaark!!
I am really upset, was it that bloody hard to call me to come & see the apartment at the same time?!! Or if she was going to completely shaft me could she have at least let me know so I didn’t spend 2 days sitting by the phone waiting?!! It’s bloody hard trying to organize a baby for a possible outing!!
So the hunt continues…
But in the meantime we were lucky enough to be able to visit Jessy & Matt & their gorgeous new little girl. I have already totally forgotten how tiny & helpless they are at that stage. I was really shocked when I saw that beautiful tiny little bub. To be honest I think my mind has totally blanked that stage out, like a self protection reflex. (Kaia was still on oxygen & monitors at that stage.) They are all doing so well, Matt will be a fab dad, & Jessy was born to be a mum!! It’s beautiful watching such a natural mum with her baby.
Tiny baby Liberty
Beautiful new mum
As for my little dude, he has decided this week that he’s big enough to feed himself!!
Until my next rant, Peace Out.
Dont worry Dar! i have faith that the perfect place at a good price will be waiting for you!! I cant believe those dodgy real estate agents, thats just not fair!!
Thank you for your visit and for spoiling liberty with all those funky clothes! She is going to look so cute in them!!
